Technical paper – Crossrail’s Moorgate shaft base pour

Crossrail has a Learning Legacy website dedicated to “the collation and dissemination of good practice, lessons learned and innovation from the Crossrail construction programme”. The material, consisting of case studies, technical papers, documents, templates and datasets, is being “shared for use by other major projects and is relevant to clients, corporates, and suppliers from main contractors to small and medium enterprises.”

Recently a technical paper was published on the Learning Legacy website about the design, detailing and construction of the Moorgate shaft base slab – a 1750 m3 pour carried out using South Coast’s 63m pump working alongside Camfaud Concrete Pumps.

Moorgate shaft base pour

The technical paper makes for fascinating reading, especially in regard to the pour preparations. As the paper concludes: “Careful planning of the concrete pour from reinforcement detailing through to road closures to give access to a constrained site in the heart of the City of London, the contingency measures for disrupted concrete supply and the control of concrete temperature led to the successful execution of what was at that time Crossrail’s largest concrete pour.”

New in Maidenhead

Putzmeister BSF 20.09

Pictured above is the latest addition to the SCCP fleet, a Putzmeister BSF20.09, which is due to operate from our Maidenhead depot. With its short wheel base and narrow front outriggers (only 3.4m in width) we are confident that this pump will prove to be a big hit in the London market. The pump has a high pressure core pumping unit that will tackle high rise and long distance pumping contracts with ease.

If you would like to hire this new pump or would like more information, please call our hire desk.

New Schwing S28X

Schwing S28X

Schwing S28X

The new Schwing S28X has landed! The smaller sister to the S36X, it is compact and versatile, and is destined to become a real workhorse in our fleet.

The S28X boasts the same key attributes as the 36 metre pump – high pressure, high volume and a small footprint on site. The pump’s vector system for safe one side support requires a width of only 5.96m fully rigged or 4.23m if working over one side.

We confidently expect our new Schwing S28X to become a favourite for high volume pours, especially on congested construction sites.

The latest addition to our fleet is now available for hire from our Fareham depot. This Schwing S 36 X will shortly be joined by another new pump, the S 28 X . These high pressure high volume pumps both have Schwing’s vector system allowing for safe one side set up. They also have the desirable straight out outrigger configuration and their arrival will only strengthen South Coast’s capabilities and reputation as a market leader for the hire of mobile concrete pumps.
